Authorities evacuated parts of John F. Kennedy Airport in
Queens, New York after reports of shots fired in Terminal 8 late Sunday
night, according to multiple news outlets.
Witnesses reportedly told authorities they heard at least two gunshots at about 9:30 p.m., PIX11 News reported. Photos posted to social media showed a heavy police presence at the airport and travelers being evacuated.
The reports of gunfire were later deemed unfounded, according to PIX11.
No one has been reported harmed, and whether anyone actually
discharged a firearm at the airport remains unclear, according to a
Port Authority statement posted to an official NYC/New Jersey airport
account. Police are investigating.
